Wine tours in Bulgaria-where European wine was born

Bulgaria is a secret pearl in south-eastern Europe. Founded in 681, its area today estimates 111 000 km2 and with population of 7,5 million the country should be proud of its long history and cultural heritage. Bulgaria is mostly unknown among the foreign guests but offers so much: gorgeous nature, hospitable people, beautiful beaches, snowy mountains and… really exceptional wine!

The Balkan country is a big wine producer (in top 20 of the world and top 10 in Europe), having more than 60 000 hectares of vines. All well-known grape varieties are grown here (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, etc.) but also the autochthonic and really interesting Mavrud, Melnik, Rubin, Dimiat, Pamid, Misket… The shares of whites and reds are relatively equal, yet there is an impressive increase of rose wines in the last years. The annual wine production (2016) amounts to 128m liters.

Travelling on the trails of Via Vino™ we would like to present you excellent Bulgarian wines and enjoy them together. The wine-growing trends in the country are really optimistic; increasing number of outstanding small “boutique” cellars appears next to the big wine producers. Thanks to EU programs lots of investments have been made in this segment. There are also additional factors such as the passion and broad knowledge of local and international wine experts. The result – Bulgarian wines are getting better, although they still remain, unfortunately, unknown abroad!

Striving to offer memmorable and unique wine experiences by a personal approach, we work with individual tourists and small groups (max 12-15 persons) ONLY! For most of our wine tours in Bulgaria we do not require min. number of guests. Besides the wine temptations you will also enjoy a rich cultural program, typical Bulgarian meals and picturesque nature! Also, we are organizing wine & cultural round trips in the Balkans…
